A CITY gallery was packed for the opening of a new exhibition.
Art lovers were out in force for the first night of Black to the Future at Solent Showcase Gallery.
The new exhibition is "an exploration of the arts through a black cultural lens" and is part of this year's Black History Month.
Showing work by Carleen de Sozer, Harold Offeh and Leyla Reynolds the exhibition takes on the concept of Afrofuturism - a philosophical movement which aims to examine the black diaspora through the prism of science fiction and technology.
A series of events open to the public will be held at the Above Bar gallery - which is part of Solent University.
On October 25 you can take part in a discussion about Afrofuturism from 6.30-9pm.
Drawing the Future on October 27 from 12-3pm is a chance for you to take part in the world's biggest drawing festival - the Big Draw 2018 - with local artist Chantelle Lyraness. No experience is necessary and all ages are invited.
A workshop with artist Harold Offeh is a drop in event and a chance for you to meet one of the artists exhibiting in Black to the Future.
From 11am-4pm half term activities include badgemaking and a chance to create your own superhero inspired by the film Black Panther.
