A HAMPSHIRE council is on the hunt for "inspirational" adults and young people for the Citizen and Young Citizen of Honour Awards 2019.

The annual event is a bid to recognise residents who have made a difference to their community.

Fareham Council wants to hear from residents who would like to nominate people in two categories only: under 18s and 18 plus.

Previous winners have been nominated for bravery, helping others at school or college, coping with something life changing, volunteering, helping the local environment or caring for an individual.

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward, said: "There are so many heroes in Fareham, who go out of their way to help others and improve our community. I would encourage anyone that knows somebody who deserves recognition to nominate them for this worthy award.”

The winners will receive invitations to the Mayor Making ceremony in May with two guests to receive their award from the outgoing Mayor, a reception with the new Mayor to receive Citizen of Honour certificates, the Mayor's Civic Service and Remembrance Day Service, a family ticket for the Gala Performance of the Pantomime held at Ferneham Hall and £15 in vouchers for winners.

To nominate your hero either fill out our nomination form online, call the Communications Team on 01329 824310 or email publicity@fareham.gov.uk.

Those nominated must be a resident in the Fareham Borough and, if you are nominating someone, you can't be a family member.

The deadline for nominations is January 31 2019.

Executive members of the council will then decide who the winners are at their meeting in March.
