Charitable members of the security team at ABP Southampton have raised yet more money for the company’s charity of the year.

Steve Russell and Colin Ferraday, who, by day can be found manning Dock Gate 4, set up temporary parking for visitors to the Southampton Boat Show at the port in September and in doing so have raised £2,161 for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

In total they raised more than £6,000 with just over £2,000 each going to Wessex Cancer Trust and Solent Dolphin, the charity that organises boat trips for people with disabilities.

Through charitable support, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance brings an advanced Critical Care Team to people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight when they need it most.

Alastair Welch, ABP Southampton Director said: “Supporting local charities is a passion of ours and we’re proud of the effort from the teams here at the port. We know that the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is a fantastic organisation and we are delighted to present this donation.”

Ray Southam, Partnerships Manager at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance said:

"I was delighted to meet Steve and Colin at the cheque presentation and to thank them for their hard work.

“ABP Southampton has been so dedicated in supporting our charity and we have been blown away by their generosity and fundraising ideas. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance receives no government funding, so every penny raised by ABP Southampton will help to keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives. Thank you for making a big difference to our service."

Every year ABP selects a local charity to devote all fundraising activities and donations and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been the dedicated charity for 2018.
