I would like to know why there are so many student flats being built in Southampton. I work in the city and have seen many buildings being built over the last four years for students. My office is now surrounded by student properties and as I speak there are more going up. Southampton has a homelessness problem with the figures rising day by day. They are of all ages, young women, pensioners, teenagers, its very sad to see.

On top of that there is a waiting list for the people of this city to get housed.

I wonder why is Southampton City Council allowing private sectors to build so many student accommodation and not attending to the people of this city. The council receives millions of pounds a year through parking fees and parking tickets. SCC get your act together, people have the right to be housed. Build more homes please.
