FIREFIGHTERS came to the rescue of drivers trapped in dirty cars by staging a charity car wash at a village fire station.

With water and hoses at the ready, the fire crews in Burley in the New Forest worked in relays to remove the grime from some 50 cars during the day-long effort.

Asking for only £5 donations from the owners of the mucky motors, the firefighters raised £250 for the National Fire Services Benevolent Fund.
