SOUTHAMPTON Guildhall sparkled as a sea of sequins, stunning pinks and elaborate haircuts filled the venue for the 21st dance festival.
The competition, which took place on October 4, 1968, was opened by music from Kenny Williams’ Orchestra and the Townsmen.
Standing with pencils poised for scoring were the judges - three well-known faces in the dancing world - Alex Moore, Gwen Silvester and Jimmy Small.
With 30 couples in five sections, the judging was said to have been difficult.
