FANS of German culture headed to a Southampton park in their thousands for the second annual Oktoberfest.
Organisers say 9,000 revellers came to this year’s beer and bratwurst filled festival at Mayflower Park.
Organiser James Ward - who set up the Oktoberfest Southampton company with Orange Rooms’ Gary Bennetton and pals Matt Conrad and Peter Tolent - said this year there has been a “great response.”
He added: “It’s bigger and better this year. More decor has gone in. We’ve upscale it from the event we had in town. And it’s a proper show.
"We are 100 per cent committed to Southampton- I came to university here and I love this city. It’s great to bring a bit of German culture.”
