POLICE have released new CCTV as part of an investigation into a robbery at a Southampton grave yard.

Officers say a woman, 61, was pushed to the ground during the incident, which took place at Southampton Old Cemetery.

The woman was approached from behind by a man and her handbag was pulled from her shoulder.

The man ran off with the handbag, which contained a phone and her purse.

 

Her bank card was later used to buy a lottery ticket at the Co-Op store in Wyndham Place.

Police say the incident took place around 2.15pm on Monday, October 8.

But officers have now released CCTV image of a woman they would like to speak to about the incident.

They are also continuing their appeal to find the robber, who is described as white, around 25 to 30 years of age and of a slim build.

He is said to have dark hair, thick eyebrows and was wearing a dark coloured hooded top which covered his head and sides of his face.

Detective Constable Kimberley Bownes said: “Do you know who this woman is? We are keen to identify her as she may have information which could help with our investigation.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who was in Southampton Old Cemetery at this time and remembers seeing anything suspicious.”
