HUNDREDS of talented artists made their way to city galleries for the world’s biggest drawing event.
And The Big Draw included the unveiling of a special invention designed to help you become a better artist.
Experts from Urban Sketchers – a global arts initiative – brought their magic drawing frames to City Art Gallery for everyone to try out.
The cardboard frames are designed to block out any distractions so artists can get better at drawing.
Organiser Joss Lopez said: “They’re simple but effective. We invented them for this event. We were trying to come up with something to help people start to draw. If people are really into drawing the idea is to sketch and to focus on composition – the frames block out any distractions.”
Also on offer were specially-made drawing contraptions hung from the roof of the John Hansard Gallery, hi-tech iPad sketching with film experts at City Eye, and floor-length canvases at Solent Showcase Gallery, set up by city artist Chantelle Harry to coincide with Black History Month.
