BONFIRE Night is just around the corner and there are a number of events across Hampshire to cater for all. From spectacular firework displays set over Southampton Water to more traditional fairs complete with rides, music and food, readers can expect to be dazzled by Bonfire Night celebrations in 2018. Here are some of the brightest...

Southampton

IF YOU’RE looking for something that’s not a firework display this year, then Gunpowder, Treason and Plot will be the one for you.

This walk starts at the Bargate at 7.30pm on November 4, and will take you through Guy Fawkes, a plot to murder a king, 19 dismembered Lancastrians, spies and vanishing Friars. Tickets cost £5 and you can book in advance but you don’t have to.

Netley

THE fireworks display will return to Royal Victoria Country Park tonight. Food stalls and children’s activities will entertain visitors before the fireworks illuminate the beautiful surroundings of Netley Abbey. The gates will open at 6pm, with the fireworks display starting at 7.30. Tickets cost £6 for adults and £4 for children, with car parking available on site for £1.

FAREHAM

ST ANTHONY’S Catholic Primary School is putting on an evening of fireworks and fun tonight. Guests can enjoy barbecue food and a licensed bar serving mulled wine. There is plenty to keep children entertained including face painting, a circus school and fire performer. Gates open at 4pm, with the firework display due to start at 6pm.

WELLOW

WELLOW School will light up the skies on when it hosts its annual fireworks display tonight. Refreshments, sparklers and glow sticks will add to the fun. Tickets are available from Wellow School office, Nobles and Country Consumables, and Wellow Post Office. A family ticket costs £20 in advance or £25 on the night.

Copythorne

FIREWORK Display at Copythorne Villages Hall this evening. Gates open at 5.30pm ready for the bonfire to be lit around 6pm followed by two fireworks displays (with interval between). Guy competition open to all with judging in the hall at 6pm. Refreshments available all evening. Tickets on the gate: £6 adults, £1 children. No sparklers.

TOTTON

REVELLERS can enjoy a firework display at Southern Gardens on November 4. The display will start at 6.30pm but attractions including a DJ, fairground rides and stalls, as well as refreshments and a hog roast will keep guests entertained after the gates open at 4.30pm. Tickets are available from Totton & Eling Cricket Club at £5.50 per person, rising to £7 on the day. There are discounted tickets available for members and families. To book call 023 8086 2143.

Fawley

FAWLEY Firework Spectacular at Gang Warily Recreation Ground, on Sunday, November 4. Bonfire, fireworks, bar and food. Tickets £5 on the night.

Ringwood

RINGWOOD’S Bonfire and Fireworks Display takes place at Carvers Playing Field, on Sunday November 4 with hog roast, food stalls, beer tent and small fairground rides. Starts 3.30pm.

BROUGHTON

BROUGHTON Firework Club’s annual firework display will once again take place on Bonfire Night, November 5. There will be a torch Lit procession at 6.30pm from The Square (outside The Greyhound Pub) up to the sports field in Buckholt Road. The bonfire will be lit around 7pm and the firework display will begin around 7.30pm. Follow event signs for free parking adjacent to the cemetery on Salisbury Road. Tickets can be bought on the night.

GUNWHARF QUAYS

Gunwharf Quays will see the return of its waterfront fireworks extravaganza on November 8. Once again hosted by Wave 105, the event will feature live performances and is being run in partnership with the children’s charity Barnardo’s. Admission is free and guests are encouraged to arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Sway

ANNUAL fireworks fundraising event at St Luke’s School school field on Friday, November 9. The event starts at 5pm for refreshments and to see the procession of guys taken to the bonfire before it is lit. Firework display from 6pm. Tickets in advance from the Sway Newsagent and Winkwork £6. Tickets on the gate £7.

New Milton

FIREWORK display organised by New Milton Round Table in aid of local charities on Saturday, November 10. Gates open 6pm, fireworks at 7pm. Adults £6, children £4 (under-4s go free).

Hedge End

GRETA Park will be hosting its Fun Fair and Fireworks Display on Saturday, November 10, from 6pm. The event, organised by C. Burnett & Sons in association with Hedge End Carnival Committee, distributes 50 per cent of admission money to good causes around Hedge End. Tickets cost £4 for adults, £2 for children, or there is a family ticket available for £10.

Eastleigh

EASTLEIGH Town Centre will combine a firework display with their Christmas light switch on this year. The family day out on November 17 will include a Santa’s Grotto, entertainment, live music and a variety of specially selected market stall.The day will end with Santa Claus turning on the lights, and with a parade and firework display. This will be free and open to anyone, running all day from 11am to 7pm.
