A CITY farm had its hens disturbed and one killed over Halloween.

Oasis Down to Earth Farm in Lordshill had a coop dismantled and one chicken killed during an act of vandalism by nine youths at around 8pm on October 31.

Three chickens were also set loose and one was released onto Lancaster Road, which was found alive and uninjured by a member of the public who notified staff at the farm.

In a post on social media, a spokesperson for the farm said: “We have reported this to the police and have some CCTV that will be sent onto the police. If you have any info please get in contact and we will pass it onto the police.

“A few more details, at least one of the kids was on a push bike, the other eight were on foot.

“Animal cruelty is a serious crime which can carry a jail sentence. We are taking this attack very seriously.”

Oasis Down To Earth Farm is non-profit charity that provides inclusive experiences for people of all ages, abilities and differences.

The attack follows two hens going missing from YMCA Weston Nursery on Wednesday, October 24.
