Flood warnings and alerts issued in Southampton and Hampshire

The flood warning – signifying that flooding is expecting and that immediate action is required – has is in place for the Beaulieu River.

Motorists across the county are being urged to be aware of conditions and drive safely.

Southampton Water is currently on a flood alert, meaning that residents should be prepared for possible flooding near the River Test, the River Itchen, and the Hamble River.

An Environment Agency statement says: "For an hour either side of high water, flooding will affect; the boat yards at Bursledon, Quay at Hamble, Rising Sun car park at Warsash, lower floor level at Eling Tide Mill, Magazine Lane and footpaths at Riverside Park."

Referring to Beaulieu, an Environment Agency statement says: "Wednesday morning's tide at 10.18am [today] is higher than normal as unsettled weather brings strong southerly force 7 winds.

"Levels will be similar to those recorded in January this year. For 30 minutes either side of high tide, Palace Lane and the B3056 north of the Mill Pond will flood making access around the village temporarily more difficult.

"The garden of the Mill house downstream of the Mill Pond will also flood and water could just enter the property."
