CROWDS gathered on November 8 for HMS Collingwood's bonfire evening.

The show was held for civilian personnel ,and their families, based at the establishment.

The annual event, which is funded by the Central Amenities Fund took place on Collingwood's sports fields to mark Guy Fawkes Night, and donations were made on arrival, with attendees able to enjoy refreshments and funfair.

The Bonfire was lit by Captain Rob Vitali Royal Navy, Commanding Officer of HMS Collingwood. This was followed by a firework display which the crowds were able to enjoy in awe.

Lieutenant Mark Grandy Royal Navy, who organised the event, said “Our bonfire and fireworks event recognises and rewards the hard work and effort of HMS Collingwood’s service personnel and staff as well as the unwavering support that our families provide us.

"This year’s event was well attended and received. Its success is down to the hard work of a few volunteers from the Ship’s company and the trainees who provided a professional and courteous RN presence to ensure the safety of all who attended. Events such as these also enable a valuable opportunity for charities that support our people, and their families,to raise funds; with this we succeeded due to the generosity of those who attended.”

All donations generated from the event will go to Hosanna House and Children’s Pilgrimage Trust, with a grand total of £774 raised.
