A DIABETES charity is launching a new campaign to recognise the "superhero network" who surround people with the disease.

For World Diabetes Day on November 14, JDRF- the type 1 diabetes charity- is recognising the superhero network of family, friends, colleagues and classmates who are always there for support when it’s needed.

Supporters around the country are joining the biggest superhero team ever assembled and doing all sorts of superhero related fundraising activities.

JDFR funds research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes and works with a range of organisations to accelerate research in the UK and within healthcare policy.

Claire Rogers, from Whitchurch, is dressing up as a superhero along with her two puppies Kiki and Jango and will be taking them out for walkies around Kingsclere.

The 38-year-old was diagnosed with diabetes type 1 when she was just 7-years-old.

Claire is a fulltime-blogger and housewife and runs her own blog "The Level Scoop".

The blog has been live since April 2018 and allows Claire to reach out to others in the diabetes community and provide much needed support.

Before switching to fulltime blogging, Claire worked as a writer for five years, which she explained is where her passion for writing comes from.

Claire said: “Diabetes is a terrifying battlefield at times.

"I'm fortunate my husband, Barry, has turned it into an endurable playground for me. He listens, coaches and supports me through the minefield that is type 1 diabetes.

"What a man, taking me on! He deserves a medal.

“It’s so important to reach out to the diabetes community and know you are not alone in this.

"Instagram and Twitter both have fantastic online diabetes communities.

"But always stick with your medical team for anything related to your diabetes management.

"Sometimes it’s really hard having diabetes and ‘diabetes burnout’ happens to everyone at times.

"That’s when the online diabetes community becomes such a valuable asset.

"I hope my blog post will help raise awareness for JDRF as they are such an amazing charity and support people with diabetes in so many ways. Their research into finding a cure is second to none."
