STUDENTS laughed and clowned their way through Southampton as part of their Carnival Week celebrations.
About 21 floats made up the procession which started from West Quay Road and made its way through the High Street and Above Bar on November 23, 1968.
The floats were made by Southampton University, La Sainte Union and Southampton College of Technology students.
During the afternoon and evening a fair was in full swing on Southampton Common.
The rain failed to dampen the young people’s enthusiasm as they collected for the community service scheme which helped the city’s less fortunate and forgotten sections of the community.
