THINKING about getting tickets for this year's family Christmas show? You better be quick as tickets are flying out for Disney Peter Pan Jnr. at the Regent Centre.

Running from December 11-15, this magical production, in conjunction with The Regent Centre will see 135 young local performers perform a musical play based on the beloved Disney film and J.M. Barrie's enchanting play. Demand is high for one of the season’s most anticipated show’s that features three separate casts and an irresistible score of new arrangements of classic Disney songs.

The Ginger Boy Productions creative team behind Disney Peter Pan Jnr boasts an array of experience including Southampton-born West End and Broadway star Earl Carpenter, revered theatre Director Jacquelyn Ockwell from Mayflower Engage and Assistant Producer and Safeguarding Officer Jo Barrington, also founder of South Coast Academy Performing Arts.

The show marks an exciting new chapter for the local production company that aims to give free performance experience to young people at a professional level. Last year, saw a critically acclaimed run of Scrooge at the Shelley Theatre, Bournemouth, that saw 45 young performers in action.

With far bigger production values and a hugely talented local cast, Disney Peter Pan Jnr should see this pioneering initiative soar to new heights.

Earl Carpenter told the Daily Echo: “We are delighted with the sales for Disney Peter Pan Jnr. It’s testament to the talent, hard work and dedication of our performers. We’re offering an experiential process with real social-interaction away from smartphones and devices, which I think is so important these days. I’d urge theatregoers to get their tickets quickly, so they don’t miss out supporting these future performers.”

Jo Barrington added: “We’re all immensely excited about the show and working extremely hard to provide the audience with the best possible experience over the five-day run. It’s not just about selling tickets, we’re looking to nurture our performers with a deep and broad understanding of the industry.”

Explaining how the project came about Earl said: "Whilst having a coffee in Macau, during our Three Phantoms Asian tour we discussed the diminishing opportunities for studying Performing Arts at School ……fast forward 18 months and we are now at working with 135 incredible young people who we’re stirring to perform Disney Peter Pan Jnr at The Regent.

"The inspiration for this production came from a simple question, do we use our imagination as much as we did when we were children. Our imagination was always the door to endless possibilities. Playing dress up and using random household objects to assist us on amazing imaginary journeys to while away hours on a miserable day.

"Our ethos is to inspire. To allow each and every young person involved with this enterprise the chance to fly. To provide a professional performance experience that nurtures confidence, social interaction, communication skills (without the help of a tablet or phone(!) and encourages the use of their imagination to help create this production."

This is all happening whilst Earl is about to do a new musical called The Dreamers that’s being presented at Abbey Road Studios on December 7 and 8.
