A PENSIONER caught stealing property worth £294 from Marks and Spencer told police she had done it because she felt like it.

And asked if she had anything else to say Barbara Anderson said; "Yes, I'm sorry I got caught."

Anderson, 67, of Haywood Road, Accrington, pleaded guilty to shoplifting.

Blackburn magistrates added and extra 10 days rehabilitation activity requirement to an existing community order, fined her £40 and ordered her to pay £85 victim surcharge.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said security staff watched Anderson enter the Blackburn store and put a large quantity of goods in a basket.

When she was asked what she would have done with the clothing she said it was all her size and she would have worn it.

Gareth Price, defending, said from 2012 his client had been out of trouble for five years and it was only in the last 12 months that things had deteriorated for her.

"She is currently subject to a community order and needs all the help she can get," said Mr Price.
