A MAN with his face covered exposed himself to children on a Hampshire school's playground.

The pupils were on their lunch break when the man approached a fence next to the play area.

He exposed himself to a "few children" before running away.

Police were later called and parents were informed about the incident via email.

Headteacher Nicky Redman said in the email: "Dear parents, I'm saddened and shocked to have to let you know the following information.

"At lunchtime, a man approached the fence next to the junior playground and exposed himself to the few children that were playing nearby.

"We immediately called 999 to report it and would now like to make all parents aware, especially if you have children who would usually walk home alone or play in the park after school.

"The parents whose children were involved have already been informed and we have also informed the other local schools."

Hampshire Constabulary said: "We were called at 1.16pm following reports of a man indecently exposing himself near Hamble Primary School.

"We have attended the school to investigate this incident.

"If anyone has information about this, they should call 101 quoting incident 348. Always call 999 in an emergency."
