A YOUNG Southampton florist who won a silver medal at RHS Chelsea Flower Show this year has qualified for the prestigious show once again.

Kara Halford competed in the Young Florist competition last year, and is aiming to win gold this time around.

The 20-year-old took part in a qualifying heat at Capel Manor College, Enfield, in September.

There, she was required to design and create a wired posy for a model wearing a bridesmaid dress at a fashion shoot.

The Bitterne resident will be one of 16 qualifiers from the country competing for the coveted crown at the prestigious competition.

The former Sholing Technology College student told the Echo: “I couldn’t believe that I’d qualified last year, and then I was over the moon to have won a silver medal at Chelsea Flower Show.

“I even got to meet a few celebrities while I was there, but now I have got a place in the final again and this time I want to bring the gold back with me.”

The annual show will take place in the week of May 21-25 next year.

Kara is in the process of opening her business J&K Floral Designs in Gurnard, Isle of Wight, with her business partner Jordan Knight who has also qualified.
