A POPULAR Southampton restaurant completed an award-winning week by claiming three prizes in seven days.

Kuti's Brasserie, which is based at Royal Pier, Town Quay, secured an Asian Curry Award, a Tommy Miah International Indian Chef honour and a Cobra Good Curry Guide nod.

On Sunday restaurateur Kuti Miah and chef Ravi Rai completed the award haul with a trophy for Best Newcomer at the Asian Curry Awards, being given the honour from BBC TV News presenter Babita Sharm.

Earlier in the week the team was crowned Restaurant of the Year by celebrity chef Tommy Miah after it was given a Certificate of Excellence from the curry guide.

Mr Miah said: "This is the proudest week of my life and is testament to the hard work we’ve put in in creating one of the most impressive destination venues on the south coast."

Pat Chapman, editor of the Cobra Good Curry Guide said: "Kuti’s is unique, located in an iconic historical landmark, where the expertly cooked food matches the distinctive venue."

Tommy added: "I know how hard the team at Kuti’s Brasserie work to serve their community, and we are delighted to recognise their brilliant service with our highest award, restaurant of the year."

To celebrate the unique treble, Kuti’s Brasserie will serve a special celebratory X-course gourmet dinner created by chef Roa showcasing the dishes which helped secure the awards, on December 4. Tickets cost £20.

The restaurant reopened in August after it closed its sister premises in Oxford Street, Southampton.

Kuti’s Brasserie, which has a number of takeaways, across the city, was set up his first restaurant in 1993.

Mr Miah's flagship site on the pier has been revamped and offers customers an even wider selection of food.

There is now a bar upstairs called The Gatehouse 1833, named after its original name and year it was built.
