SEVEN Hampshire pubs were winners at major brewery's awards night.
Derek and Brid Phelan of the Golden Lion in Winchester received the Special Recognition award at the Wadworth Best of the Best awards and were singled out by company chairman Charles Bartholomew for creating wonderful floral displays being fantastic hosts at their pub.
Best Neighbourhood pub was awarded to Sybilla Best of the Fighting Cocks in Gosport and the Best Turnaround Pub went to Phill Butler and Freya Loveless of the Green Dragon in Brook.
The Best Managed House Marketing Pub of the Year went to Jade and John Whitfield of the Cleveland Bay, in Chandler's Ford and the silver for the same award was given to Steve Cooper of the Humble Plumb in Bitterne.
Chris Welham, CEO of Wadworth said, “It’s fantastic that so many pubs from Hampshire were recognised at our awards. The ‘Best of the Best Awards’ give us the opportunity to celebrate the success of our dedicated tenanted and managed house pub teams and recognise the great pubs and customer service they deliver.
“It’s a tough competition as we have so many wonderful pubs so I’d like to thank everyone at Wadworth for their continued hard work and dedication in making the customer count every day. We have many pubs in the west country to be very proud of”.
