A BRIDGE which had been closed to the public after it was vandalised has now been repaired.

Residents can now use the bridge in Valley Park woodland after it has been replaced with a new structure.

The bridge was vandalised in August this year and was cordoned off.

Alan Dowden, borough councillor for Valley Park, said: “A local resident reported it to me and I sent officers from Test Valley. It had been cordoned off for safety reasons and they replaced it as soon as they could.”

Cllr Dowden said the bridge had never been vandalised before and it is well used by the local community.

“I’m happy to see it has been repaired and the community can now use it again,”he said.

And added: “It had been there a long time and it was to be replaced anyway.”

The cost of the repair has not been revealed.
