NOW we’ve reached December - the month in which we bring trees in to our homes, dress our children in table cloths and eat food we wouldn’t normally have the rest of the year round - the Daily Echo takes a look back at carol singing in Romsey half a century ago.
Children and adults of Romsey joined the Mayor, Councillor H W Malpas, in the annual carol singing around the Christmas tree in Market Square.
The mayor provided - and stoked - braziers to keep his citizens warm.
Carols were led by Michelmersh Silver Band.
The date was December 23, 1968, and these pictures show us that the event has always been popular.
