A HAMPSHIRE city went Father Christmas crazy on Sunday to support ill children.

With their colourful red outfits, curly white beards and festive hats, hundreds of people dressed as Santa took over Winchester in aid of the Sutton Scotney-based charity Naomi House&Jacksplace.

Returning to the city for the 10th year running, the event has seen Santas running the 5k route starting from the Guildhall.

The money raised throughout the initiative will support the charity which provides hospice care to more than 525 life-limited and life-threatened children, young adults and their families.

The charity said it costs £11,000 to run a full service from the hospices each day and there is always need for volunteers.
