HAMPSHIRE Police have issued a scam alert to people using social media selling sites after a buyer was conned out of £500.
Officers say a Facebay user agreed to meet a man to buy what he believed was an iPhone.
He paid the seller £550, but later found out the phone wasn't genuine.
Police say the incident happened incident happened in Basingstoke on December 5.
Officers are advising buyers to check the product they are paying for and report any suspicious behaviour to Action Fraud.
