IT was like a scene from three decades earlier – searchlights flashed and an air raid siren sounded.
It was all part of the autumn fashion show staged by Owen Owen at Top Rank Suite on October 9, 1968.
Compering the show was radio and TV personalty Tony Blackburn and Sheela Shaw who ran a modelling agency and whose models took part in the show.
Tony commented: “Fashion shows are taken far too seriously. If you get a bit of humour into them, then I think they are appreciated by more people.
The show was divided into 11 scenes presented on a revolving stage, from which 16 models stepped in to three catwalks out among the audience.
