DIVERS from across the south of England flocked to Southampton to compete in a national competition.

Hosted by Southampton Diving Academy (SDA), the annual Peter Waterfield Novices Competition took place last month at The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex.

SDA all took home a top six place and between them won three gold, two silver and three bronze medals.

There are 18 members of the club all aged under 18-years-old.

The event is known as a "Skills" level competition and sees the divers aged 13-years-old and under performing a set of twelve skills from three stations- poolside, 1m and 3m springboard.

Whilst divers aged 14-years-old and above performed ten dives from the 1m and 3m springboard.

Coach Matt Roberts said: “I thought the divers had a solid start to the season in all age categories and considering the slight complications that we had throughout the day the divers responded very well to this and still managed to perform at a high level.”

The club have seven teams; Girls 8-9-years-old; 12-13-years-old; and 14-15-years-old; and Boys 8-9-years-old; 10-11-years-old; 12-13-years-old; and 14-15-years-old.

Jed Brown in Boys 8-9, Samuel Dodge in Boys 10-11 and Dylan Jewitt in Boys 14-15 all took home a gold medal.
