HAMPSHIRE venues made a splash at the The Beautiful South Awards 2018/19, organised by Tourism South East.
The awards were presented a ceremony at the Grand Hotel Brighton by TV and radio presenter Mark Jones.
Seventy-four businesses and tourism professionals received Gold, Silver or Bronze trophies at what has become the industry’s year end highlight.
One of the biggest winners on the night was The Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth, which scooped Gold in the Large Attraction, Business Tourism and Accessibility categories.
Greenclose Hotels came away with a clutch of awards thanks to the success of New Forest venues, Careys Manor and the Montagu Arms.
The Terrace Restaurant at the Montagu Arms in Beaulieu was awarded Gold for Restaurant/Bistro of the Year and the hotel was a silver winner in the Small Hotel category.
Careys Manor at Brockenhurst took bronze in the Large Hotel of the Year category and the hotel’s SenSpa also received bronze in the spa category.
James Hiley-Jones, of Greenclose Hotels, said: “We are delighted to have received all of the awards, some for the second year in a row, and achieved such high acclaim from the Beautiful South judges.
Other Hampshire wins were by Hoburne Naish at New Milton, named Holiday Park/Village of the Year and the The Little Kitchen Bistro, at Headbourne Worthy, near Winchester, named best cafe/tearoom.
Nigel Smith, of Tourism South East, pictured,said: “I was blown away last night by the sheer quality of tourism businesses we have got in the South East and how their numbers are increasing every year. Many of the winners are truly world class.”
