JON Sopel is the star name for next year's series of Cheriton Talks.

THE BBC North America Editor, who used to live in Cheriton and also Ropley, near Alresford, will speak on US president Donald Trump on March 9.

But that event has already sold out with a waiting list.

The other talks are: February 2: Tim Oakley, explorer, In the Footsteps of Amundsen; February 16, Sarah Langford, barrister, In Your Defence - Stories of Life and Law; February 23, Douglas Skeggs, art historian, Turner - The Sun is God; March 2, Edward Mayer, founder of Swift Conservation, Swifts - The Bird We Must Now Lose.

The price of tickets remains at £12 each for the sixth year running. All talks are in St Michael's Church, starting at 7pm with canapes and a glass of wine served from 6.30pm.

Tickets will also be available in Cheriton Stores and the Flower Pots pub from January.
