A PROPOSAL to build new homes on the site of a care home in Chandler’s Ford has been revealed.

Plans for 11 homes on Valley Road, have been proposed following the demolition of an existing care home, Immanuel Nursing Home.

The planning includes the construction on seven three-bedroom and four four-bedroom dwellings with associated amenity space and parking.

Developer Doswell Projects Ltd put the application forward, which has been met by a mixed reaction from residents.

Ben Thompson of Valley Road said in a letter to the council: “We fully appreciate there will be elements of disturbance to local residents during the construction, but would like specific assurances regarding practical steps to be taken to minimise these impacts.

“Specifically, we request that during the build all contractors’ vehicles are parked on the site of number nine’s land rather than on Valley Road itself.”

In support of the application, Jim Francis of Park Road wrote to the council: “I feel this proposed development will be of a great benefit to the local area as it will replace a derelict building which is no longer fit for purpose.

“The site plan makes effective use of the land and is close to the local amenities.”

Meanwhile, Isabelle Saunders, of Ashdown Road added: “I think these proposed homes are attractive and really in keeping with the other homes in the area.

“They are also looking to build a good mix of small and big houses which will appeal to first time buyers , downsizers and families too.”

The plans are due to be discussed by the Chandler’s Ford local area committee on March 13
