SMASH hit musical Les Misérables is to return to Southampton in 2019.
Cameron Mackintosh's epic production of Boublil and Schönberg’s musical is a global stage sensation, seen by 70 million people in 51 countries around the world and inspiring the movie starring Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Eddie Redmayne.
The latest version of the world's longest running musical was last performed at Mayflower Theatre in 2010 and will be back for a four week run in the autumn.
The cast will include West End and Broadway favourite Killian Donnelly reprising his role as Jean Valjean in the show, set against the backdrop of 19th-century France.
Ex-convict Jean Valjean is hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
The magnificent score includes I Dreamed a Dream, On My Own and Bring Him Home.
Les Miserables will run from October 29 to Saturday November 23 next year.
Tickets will go on general sale on February 5.
