THIEVES targeted a village shop in the early hours of Christmas Day morning.
Attempts to break in at Colden Common Coop, on St Vigor Way, were made earlier today, with the offenders reportedly trying to get cash from the shop's internal ATM.
However, according to a worker from The Alarming Company - a firm which was called to make sure the building was secure - they alleged thieves left empty handed.
The worker said: “The alarm was working. I’m just making sure it’s all working ok. We just respond to check everything is ok, which it is. They didn’t get in.”
Security staff called to guard the scene refused to comment - except to say that it happened in the early hours of this morning.
It is unknown what was used to get access.
Hampshire Constabulary has been contacted for a comment.
