VISITORS to a Southampton shopping centre are in for an arty treat with a new display.
To celebrate the opening of film Mary Poppins Returns talented artists have recreated the magical drawings made by Dick Van Dyke's character Bert in the original.
Fans will recall how Bert's chalk art becomes the portal into a magical world of talking merry-go-round horses - and now you can see an exact replica of the scenes themselves.
Artists from Urban Canvas are showing their work on Level 2 outside Cosmo. Artist Catherine McMahon said: ""The recreation of the Mary Poppins images at Westquay follow the same techniques as Ellinshaw, who created the original piece. Although they were portrayed as chalk drawings in the film, they were actually floor paintings, so these really are as close to the real thing as you can get! We hope visitors take advantage by capturing their own nostalgic image with the paintings."
Showcase de Lux are also offering four free tickets to the movie through the Westquay PLUS app.
