A NEW book by a Southampton artist claims to be an antidote to “boring pop culture.”
Jonny Hannah, who is famed for his brightly- coloured illustrations, has put together a collection of his favourite films, books, artists and objects in Fast Cars and Ukuleles – A Compendium.
The illustrated A-Z is a homage to Jonny’s favourite things, including Clarence Hardware in Shirley.
Speaking to the Echo Jonny said: “I’m a proud Shirley resident. I do like going shopping so there’s a few shops in there.
“This is my fifth book. It’s a compendium of exciting things that everybody should enjoy on a daily basis. Contemporary pop culture is rather dull – it’s Strictly Come Dancing and the Kardashians. My book offers an alternative to all that rubbish.”
As reported the Solent University lecturer has customised his own car with his eye-catching designs and in the past used ink derived from pollution to make paintings.
