A FORMER Southampton public art officer who went on to become a global arts leader is coming back to the city where she started her career.

Twenty five years ago Rosy Greenlees OBE - who worked for Southampton City Council then - commissioned poet laureate Dame Carol Ann Duffy and photographer Nancy Honey to put together a body of work inspired by city bus routes.

Now Ms Greenlees - who is now executive director of the UK Craft Council as well as president of the World Craft Council - will come back to Southampton to give a talk with Nancy Honey about the Citybus project.

It’s part of a series of events run by curators at K6 Gallery to celebrate 25 years since the initial project took place.

As reported the 1993 Citybus exhibition has taken on a new lease of life with new work commissioned by K6 Gallery.

The work by poet Ella Frears and photographer Toby Glanville is on show on board the number 17 bus - which goes from town to Shirley.

And also on show now in the iconic red phone box gallery near Town Quay is some of the original work by Nancy Honey and Dame Carol Ann.

Rosy Greenlees and Nancy Honey in Conversation takes place on Saturday January 26 at the Stella Maris Hall on Bugle Street.

It runs from 2-4pm. Tickets cost £2.68.
