RESIDENTS will be able to share their views on revised plans for a new village of 6,000 homes near Fareham.

The revised application for Welborne Garden village will be on view for public comment until March 1.

The controversial application was submitted by Buckland Development Ltd in 2017 but has since undergone amendments.

Residents protested in 2017 against the scheme.

In addition to 6,000 homes the application includes supporting shops and community facilities, employment space, schools, parks and open spaces.

However, a spokesperson from Fareham Borough council said: “There were a lot of areas where it needed more work before it could be properly considered.”

The revised application includes a redesigned layout for junction 10 of the M27, revisions to the local road network and changes to how and where various community facilities, such as schools and the new district centre, would be built.

Councillor Seán Woodward, leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: “Although Welborne Garden Village is crucial in terms of Fareham meeting its housing numbers, it is equally important that it is well-designed with appropriate supporting infrastructure.

“ We would urge all those interested in this new development to look at the revised application, come along to one of the CAT meetings and comment as appropriate.’

Residents can view the plans by visiting fareham.gov.uk.

Alternatively visitors to the Civic Offices can view the application during normal opening hours.

Comments on the application can be made online by emailing devcontrol@fareham.gov.uk or by writing to the Planning Department at Fareham Borough Council.

There is also an opportunity to chat to the planning team in person at one of two Community Action Team (CAT) meetings at Knowle Village Hall on February and Fareham’s Ferneham Hall on February 12. Both meetings start at 7pm.
