POLICE are investigating after a corner shop was ram raided for the second time in two weeks. 

The One Stop shop on Peartree Avenue was targeted by thieves driving a van into the front door of the shop.

Neighbours reported hearing "a big bang" - but thieves left empty-handed 

Amanda Cornes, 49, a secretary, said: "I heard a loud noise, shouting and a big bang.

"It seems the same as last time.
"It was so quick – by the time I'd got up they had gone. I don’t want that shop to close.

"It’s something to be concerned about."

A police statement said: "The incident took place between 2.35am and 2.50am on Tuesday morning.

"A van was driven into the front of the store during this incident.

"Nothing has been reported stolen at this time.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44190016976."

As reported by the Daily Echo, a group of three or four people entered the building but then made off empty-handed on January 4.

One Stop have been contacted for a comment.
