CITY council leader Caroline Horrill has accused Lib Dem rivals of misleading residents by suggesting kerbside glass collection will not happen.

Tories canvassing in the city’s St Michael ward have been frequently told by householders that Lib Dem activists had said the initiative is not going ahead.

This is despite Tories announcing it will start in autumn 2019 and also budgeting for the kerbside scheme in the one-year extension it has negotiated with Biffa.

“It’s extremely disappointing that Lib Dems are going around misleading residents about our publicly announced and fully-costed plan to collect glass from their homes,” said Caroline.

“I don’t know whether these are the actions of a few rogue activists or something more calculated, but is it wrong.

“The facts here are absolutely clear: Conservatives have decided to introduce doorstep glass collection in 2019.”
