POLICE want to speak to this man after an 18-year-old woman was raped in a Southampton park.

The incident happened between 11.30pm and 11.50pm at a skate park in Riverside Park, near Woodmill Lane, on December 2, 2018.

Detectives investigating the crime have now issued CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Roger Wood, said: “We have been carrying out extensive CCTV enquiries in the Burgess Road area and we now want to identify the man in these images outside the Co-op on the night the woman was raped.

“This man is in the area around the time of the offence and therefore we need to trace him as part of our enquiries.

"These most recent images are clearer than the ones we previously published. As such we hope the public can help us identify this man so that we can progress the investigation.

“If you know of anyone matching this description, or have seen anyone matching this description in the local are in the last couple of months, please get in contact with us.

"The information you have might seem small but could prove significant to the investigation."

Previously, police released a video showing a man walking near the area, as well as pictures of a man following a woman from Sainsbury's on Burgess Road, down Langhorn Road, and onto Woodmill Lane.

DI Roger Wood added: “We continue to appeal for information on this man and the identity of the woman being followed.

“Remember to stay safe, please try to avoid walking alone at night, consider taking a taxi or a lift or just stick with friends and look out for each other. If you are walking alone anywhere, stick to well-lit areas and remain vigilant.

"Be aware of your surroundings and remind friends and family to do the same. Be wary of people around you, if you think you might be being followed seek help or a safe place if there is one nearby.”
