RESIDENTS will be able to share their views on revised plans for a new community consisting of 6,000 homes in Fareham.

The revised application for a new community at Welborne Garden village is available for the public to see and comment on until March 1.

The original application was submitted by Buckland Development Ltd in 2017 but has since gone under amendments.

News of the amended application comes after residents protested in 2017 against Fareham Borough Council's local plan which allocated more than 3,300 homes to be built in the borough by 2036.

The original outline planning application proposed a new community of up to 6,000 homes with supporting shops and community facilities, employment space, schools, parks and open spaces.

However a spokesperson from Fareham Borough council said: "There were a lot of areas where it needed more work before it could be properly considered."

The revised application includes a redesigned J10 layout for the M27, revisions to the local road network and changes to how and where various community facilities, such as schools and the new district centre, will be provided along with updated plans and strategies.

Councillor Seán Woodward, Leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: "Although Welborne Garden Village is crucial in terms of Fareham meeting its housing numbers, it is equally important that it is well-designed with appropriate supporting infrastructure.

" We would urge all those interested in this new development to look at the revised application, come along to one of the CAT meetings and comment as appropriate.’

Residents can view the plans by visiting www.fareham.gov.uk.

Alternatively visitors to the Civic Offices can view the application between 8:45am and 5:15pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45am and 4:45pm on Fridays.

Comments on the application can be made online by emailing devcontrol@fareham.gov.uk or by writing to the Planning Department at Fareham Borough Council. There is also an opportunity to chat to the planning team in person at one of two Community Action Team (CAT) meetings. These will be held on Friday 1st February at Knowle Village Hall and Tuesday 12th February at Ferneham Hall.

Both meetings start at 7:00pm
