IT IS that time of the week when we take a look back at life in Hampshire through the lens of a Daily Echo photographer - this time to January 1999.
The sound of excited jubilation filled the air as some schools achieved good Ofsted reports. They can be seen celebrating in these pictures.
It was the same month as Salterns School dropped in to the Daily Echo to see how the paper was made.
This was what happened that month on the national stage:
January 1
The Euro currency was introduced, but Britain’s Labour government decided to keep the pound sterling.
January 13
Unemployment fell to it’s lowest for 20 years - it was just over 1.3million
January 30
Glenn Hoddle, England national team manager, gave an interview to The Times in which he suggested those born with disablities were paying for sins in a previous life
