MORE than 1,600 homes in Upper Shirley were without power overnight.
Engineers at SSE were alerted to a fault on the high voltage electricity network serving the ward at 2:52am on February 1.
The fault caused by an underground cable initially affected 1,619 properties.
Teams quickly restored the majority of supplies by re-routing the network, with the remaining 181 affected customers having their power fully restored at 5.48am this morning.
A spokesperson from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), said:“We’d like to apologise to our customers in Upper Shirley and surrounding areas for any inconvenience caused this morning, and thank them for their patience as our engineers worked to restore their power as quickly and as safely as possible.”
