Now that Hampshire has experienced the white stuff, the Daily Echo takes a look at when it snowed in January 1978.
Schools closed their gates, vehicles struggled on the roads and icicles gleamed as they cascaded from all manor of objects.
As these pictures show, people slowly shuffled their way around Southampton while New Forest ponies attempted to adapt to their alien home.
Busses in the city struggled to traverse on the ice and, in more rural areas, people had to abandon their cars.
