WORK to transform a Hampshire motorway will continue this week.

The scheme to transform the M27 began on January 2.

The Romsey Road bridge will be replaced this week, near junction 3, The Southampton Docks, causing a 50mph speed restriction east and westbound beneath the bridge.

The westbound carriageway between junction 5, Eastleigh, and junction 3, Southampton, will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am on February 6 and 7, with four electronic message signs being replaced.

There will be a clearly signed diversion in place.

Junction 4, Southampton, to junction 11, Fareham, will see 24 hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction in place as part of the smart motorway upgrade, which will last until 2021.

On February 6, the exit and entry slip roads at junction 7, Hedge End, will close overnight.

The entry slip road at Hedge End will also close overnight on February 7, with the junction 8, Hamble, exit slip road will also be closing.

The westbound entry slip road at junction 8 will close overnight on February 8, and the westbound entry slip road at junction 7 will close overnight on February 9.

The westbound entry slip roads at junction 7 and 8 will be closed overnight on February 10.
