AN ARSON investigation has been launched after a fire in Southampton.
Emergency services rushed to a ground floor flat in Atherley Road, Shirley, shortly before 10.30pm last night.
Two people were rescued from the flat and one person was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to smoke inhalation.
But no other injuries were reported, the police said.
Now a spokesman for Hampshire police confirmed the incident is being treated as arson and witness are urged to come forward.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Services said the cause of the fire is being investigated.
Crews from Redbridge and St Mary’s fire stations were called to battle the blaze and left at 12.28am.
