POLICE are trying to trace the owner of a dog after a two-year-old child was bitten on the face in Southampton.
The little girl suffered bites to her nose and chin that required stitches, say police.
The dog, described as a Husky, was tethered up outside Lidl in Antelope Businesses Park in Bursledon Road between 3pm and 3.45pm on Tuesday, January 29.
The girl, who was with her father, approached the dog on the way into the store, and it was friendly, say police
On the way out of the store the girl approached the dog again but this occasion the dog bit her face,
Police would like to hear from the dog's owner or anyone who was in Lidl’s on Tuesday afternoon.
A Hampshire spokesman said: "Our advice is to refrain from approaching a dog you don’t know without the owner present and with their consent, especially when a dog is tethered."
