AN EASTLEIGH man assaulted a woman and dislocated her shoulder, a court was told.

Morgan Smith was given almost five months of detention in a young offenders institute for the offence, when he appeared before magistrates.

Smith also caused his female victim to bang her head and threatened to scald her during the assault on January 8, the court heard

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates’ Court, the 20-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of assault by beating.

He was detained in a young offenders institute for 19 weeks and made the subject of restraining order, banning him from contacting his victim.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115.
