AN investigation has been launched after ram-raiders smashed their way into a Romsey shop.

Officers are investigating the incident that happened at the Premier Store in Viney Avenue shortly before 2.30am on Monday.

Hampshire police said a car was used to damage the shopfront and two people then entered the store before fleeing empty-handed.

A spokesman for the force said the vehicle was then driven away and has since been recovered.

He also confirmed that the incident is being treated as linked to the robbery that took place at the McColl's store in Longstock Crescent, Totton, at around 6.15am yesterday.
