A MAN who suffered serious injuries in a crash on the A419 remains in a stable condition at John Radcliffe Hospital.

The 30-year-old was pulled from a car which had ploughed under the rear of a lorry on the northbound carriageway between Cricklade and South Cerney at around 2.30am on Monday.

Wiltshire Police reported itself to the Independent Office of Police Conduct due to police contact being made before the serious multi-vehicle collision. The road was closed for several hours while the police and IOPC dealt with the incident.

An IOPC spokesperson said: “Our investigation into Wiltshire Police actions prior to a collision in which a man sustained serious injuries is continuing.

“We have met the man’s family and will keep them and the force updated as our investigation progresses.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision should call 101 and quote log number 12 of February 4.
