THE Eastleigh Road Race in 1986 was a personal triumph for Southampton and Eastleigh’s Olympic middle distance runner Christine Benning who was missing from the previous year’s line up because she was expecting a baby.
Christine, a driving force behind the success of Eastleigh Road Race, comfortably reached her target time of under 34 minutes as she continued her climb back into the world athletic arena.
